The term mod originates from the word modernist, used to describe jazz musicians, followers and enthusiasts during the late 1950's and 1960's.
Brief history:
This subculture, considered a lifestyle of the 60's, and not just one of music or fashion, was a subculture originating in britain, and which was more associated with middle class citizens than lower. Men and women were considered fashionista's. Women, setting trends with high street clothes, and dressing more in the style of the parents, with smart, snappy dress-wear. But also for men, they dressed like there female counterparts, wear smart clothes, more seen to be worn by there parents. A subculture, more associated with women more than men for their fine wear, as men were often seen as “Dandy's”. but this style of fashion was seen as deviant and not conforming to social norm's. Young men and women now had more money than years gone by, and more free time.
